Snacks And Crisps
At SnackTime, and our operating company's VMI and Simply Drinks, we are committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle. This means that the products we offer in our snack vending machines should be regarded as treats as part of a balanced diet and not as meal replacements. Our crisp partners, Walkers, are committed to constantly improving the ingredients and manufacturing processes to provide healthier products for our snack vending machines.
The growing awareness of fat and salt content in crisps in particular has brought about 2 key changes in Walkers crisps that are offered in our vending machines to give you healthier snack vending:
1. Reduction of Fat Content
A standard bag of our vended crisps now contains 0.9g of saturated fat, which is only 5% of an adult's GDA. Walkers now cook their crisps in a special type of sunflower oil called 'Sunseed'. It is naturally high in monounsaturates and naturally lower in saturates than traditional crisp cooking oils.
2. Lower Salt Content
Same flavour yet lower salt content! A standard bag of crisps from our snack machines now has 0.5g of salt which is only 8% of an adult's GDA. Salt and vinegar flavour crisps contain 0.8g of salt per bag. The GDA (Guideline Daily Amount) for an adult per day is 6g of salt. These amounts are based on our standard vended crisp packet sizes of 34.5g bags.
Lactose Intolerance
in addition, all salt and vinegar crisps with a Best Before dates after 29th October 2011 are now made to a new recipe without milk.
